Label Change

Most of the posts were in english anyway(*), so I gave in and changed the labels. Instead of labelling all with "English", I´ll label the german ones with "Deutsch".

* This is because of you, Sara, my only reader ;o)

Another questionnaire

Lovely Sara has some more questions for me... let´s see:

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper - I never understood the whole gift bag thing

2. Real tree or Artificial? I'm German! Obvious answer: REAL!

3. When do you put up the tree? I don't have my own tree

4. When do you take the tree down? See Nr. 3

5. Do you like eggnog? Never tried it. But I'm not a big fan of "Eierlikör", I don't know if that's a similar taste? We drink "Glühwein" in Germany - warm red wine with spices. Delicious but dangerous...

6. Favorite gift received as a child? That´s difficult. I loved the "My little pony" playhouses, the carrera track.... I think I loved everything I ever got. (Happy kid)
(Sara, I had a cabbage patch kid as child - her name was Cabby (ok, very creative) and my dad thought it was the ugliest doll ever)

7. Hardest person to buy for? Georg - he says he doesn't need a present - and he means it! Terrible.

8. Do you have a nativity scene? My parents have a lovely one

9. Mail or email Christmas cards? I must admit I did not send out any cards this year. Sorry guys! That means I will spend christmas morning frantically emailing everyone. I promise to do better next year...

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? No idea. Oh, I just remember some things on the "best presents" side - not to long ago. A tool box filled with tools and some super strong glue. I spend 15 min laughing - I loved it!

11. Favorite Christmas Movie? Peterchens Mondfahrt (1959) - only available in German. It´s adorable. I think I have to write a post about it...

12. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Internet shopping saved me some trouble this year

13. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes

14. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Christmas cookies: Zimtsterne, Schwarz-Weiß-Gebäck, Baumkuchen, Lebkuchen, Printen....

15. Lights on the tree? We have artificial lights now (but not coloured, remember, _german!_), we used to have candles. I love it when my dad tries to untangle the lights - I swear, one year he is going to strangle himself with them

16. Favorite Christmas song? Wow, another tough one. Church songs, I like "Macht hoch die Tür, die Tor macht weit" und "Tochter Zion". Else, I like the "All I want for Christmas" version from Olivia Jones (the little girl from Love Actually), the 12 days of christmas, Winter Wonderland....

17. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Travel: only to see family and friends. I would not fly to some beach.

18. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers? I remember some from the "Rudolph" song: There are dasher and dancer and prancer and vixen (?) , snowball lalalalala blitzen (?) and of course the most famous reindeer of all: Rudolph the red nose reindeer, lalalalala (great, now I have that song stuck in my head)

19. Angel on the tree top or a star? Angel

20. Open the presents Christmas eve or Christmas day? Eve - I think everybody does in Germany

21. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? To much stress (mostly self-produced) and anoying music in stores, crowds and waiting lines in shops and post office

23. Favorite for Christmas dinner? We have fondue, that's always fun and everyone ends up stuffed

24. What do you want for Christmas this year? some books, camera stuff and stay home and catch up some sleep

25. What is your favorite Christmas memory? My mum send me a letter she found - me telling santa my new adress after we moved. I was very worried he would not find me or drop the presents at the old house, I even stresses that the new people in that house had NO KIDS! :)
But I second Sara with "Not being able to sleep the night before...it was so exciting!"

Thanks Sara, that was fun!

INSTALLING A HUSBAND

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a
distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the
flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend
5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed
undesirable programs such as
NBA 5.0,
NFL 3.0 and
Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the
system.

Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems,
but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed,

Desperate

DEAR DESPERATE,

First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while
Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.HTML and try to download Tears
6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.
If that application works as designed, Husband1.0 should then
automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.
<>
However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0
to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1.
Please note that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the
Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0
(it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of
all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program.
These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited
memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider
buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We
recommend:
Cooking 3.0 and
Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck Babe!
